Sonia Rykiel once quoted: Luxury is in yourself, not in diamonds or crystals.
You become even more aware when being at this spot between Monaco and Roque Brune Cap Martin. This place inspires me because of the huge contrast between the very superficial luxury and the pure raw nature just next to eachother.
Have been around Cote d`Azure several times. Seen the most exclusive beachclubs, hotels, villa`s and nightclubs. But the truth matter is nature beats them all. As always the powerful beauty of nature wins from materialism. These ages old rocks, standing diagonal as sharp knives have a magical breathtaking beauty. Nothing but rocks, some green seaweed and the waves hitting on them. Total silence, no glamour, no shops, no cars, no snobs. When concentrate, you can hear the wind, wave beats and sea making music. They tell many stories. Stories of everybody they have seen passing by. Like Le Corbusier, Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, Sir Winston Churchill, European aristocracy, Coco Chanel, family Kennedy, Salvador Dali, Josephine Baker, Dolce&Gabanna, Brigit Bardot and many royals from the far past like Princess Leatitia Bonaparte. As if the death and living souls of icons and legends are still dancing around here. Nothing to see, just rocks, but still a great view on Monaco and the amazing previous villa of Karl Lagerfeld on the mountain (somebody told me princess Stephanie bought it).
The path of Le Corbusier (most important and influencial architect in history) brings you to this beautiful spot. Hardly to capture on a picture. He spend many years with his wife in a simple colourful designed hut at the mountain. I can totally imagine this area inspires people. Therefor photographed one of my necklace designs on these rocks. Like a crab or lobster finding his way.
EAH! black label necklace, mixed materials: lasercut plexiglass, Acryl, vintage buttons and Swarovski stones. (250 euro)
